Prolific bassist/composer, Matt Ulery, leads a new, high energy jazz quintet with a unique folk dance/post-punk/free jazz ethos; Mother Harp features robust band members, Russ Johnson (trumpet), Artie Black (tenor saxophone), Dustin Laurenzi (tenor saxophone and electric guitar), and Quin Kirchner (drums),  who are all are exquisite band leaders and provide the perfect chemistry with composer, Ulery on Fender bass guitar.  Their first show was in August 2023 at the Hungry Brain in Chicago as the final night of Ulery’s annual monthly residency playing all brand new music.  Mother Harp is touring the Midwest in May 2024.
